Finding Your Footing
Direct services with Charlie Johnson, LCSW
We cannot always choose our paths, so we need to be prepared for what twists and turns could be ahead. On trail, we pack a bag ready for the 'What If's' that might turn a great day into a scary story: ponchos, emergency blanket, whistle, first aid kit, flashlight and layers!! Sometimes it's just extra weight, but it's well-worth it weight when you need it.
I view direct therapy and LCSW Supervision in a similar way. Whether we are already off trail and feeling lost or re-working what gear we need, I will work with you through it. My goal is to help you find your footing so you can continue on knowing you're more prepared for unknowns ahead.
Let's find your footing together- either through direct therapy for people carrying a lot: illness, caregiving and loss; or the Social Workers building their own cairns to help further down the path.
Sessions are virtual, so you can meet from wherever you're most comfortable in Colorado.

Clinical Approach
I grew up in Lakewood, CO and have always loved Colorado! I earned my Bachelor of Social Work at Colorado State University (go Rams!) in 2014 and my Master of Social Work at Metro State University of Denver (go Roadrunners!) in 2017. I became a licensure candidate in 2019 and a fully Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in 2023. Social work has been my calling since I was in early High School and I continue to love this field of service after 10+ years working as a case manager, medical social worker and educator through healthcare compliance.
Along my path, I have worked with lower-income older adults, persons living with disabilities and caregivers. I am comfortable working with people who are adjusting to chronic or sudden physical losses and the mental toll of those changes, such as- Depression, Anxiety, Adjustment Disorder, Dual Diagnosis, Trauma and PTSD. My goal is to offer you a dedicated space to give yourself time to process on your own terms. I'll be here to provide 'cairns' through clinical approaches, map out next steps and call 'search & rescue' if needed*.
My approach
I draw on three approaches and fit them to you:
-
Somatic psychoanalytic therapy: noticing what your body holds, alongside your thoughts and history.
-
Motivational interviewing: finding your own reasons and pace for change, without pressure.
-
Narrative therapy: separating you from the problem, so you can re-author the story you live in.
Who I work with
I work with adults (18 and older), including:
-
Caregivers and family members, whether you're down the street or across the country
-
Older adults and people living with disability or chronic illness
-
People navigating grief, loss or a hard diagnosis
-
Helping professionals worn down by systems work
